Jon Irabagon – All Jazz Up

Filipinos continue to impress audience around the world not only in the sports scene but also in the music industry. After the rise to fame of music personalities such as of The Black Eyed Peas (Allan Pineda Lindo), Nicole Scherzinger of Pussycat Dolls (Nicole Prescovia Elikolani Valiente Scherzinger) and Charice (Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco), watch out for jazz artist Jon Irabagon.

In the recently concluded 2008 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition, Jon bagged top honors and earned himself a $20,000 scholarship and a contract with the esteemed Concord Music Group. He wowed the judges with his version of Smoke Gets In Your Eyes and also got to showcase more of his skills playing alongside jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater.

Winning one of the most prestigious jazz competition in the world, Jon became the first Filipino to achieve such feat. Congratulations Jon, mabuhay ka!
