Oil production in RP

MANILA, Philippines -
Amid the latest controversy of the Arroyo administration due to the Teehankee brouhaha, I guess we Filipinos needed a break. And a big break it was.

The Philippines is now reportedly producing oil from the Galoc field off the shore of Palawan. This is the best local news I’ve heard in months! But this should not in any way hamper our thrust towards alternative energy sources such as biofuel, geothermal, solar energy, hydroelectric, and wind energy, to name a few. Scientists and economists alike agree that every country should lessen dependence to fossil fuels which get depleted over time. Harnessing renewable and sustainable energy sources should still be priority of our country if we are to be eventually self-sufficient.

But before i forget, kudos to the Department of Energy, Galoc Production Company and everyone involved in the project!
